About Sandra
Sandra, after many years of artistic ventures, has now turned to the large artist canvas and the world of abstract art. She enjoys the freedom it gives her to express a continual flow of ideas, inner feelings, and color, releasing it onto her canvases.
She doesn’t start with an end in mind but lets the paint and brush lead to layers and layers of color that ultimately consume the canvas and take on a life of their own. Her paintings invite the viewer to stop and immerse themselves in the depth, color, and energy that flows from the finished creation, and to find their own personal message and meaning in the painting.
Sandra has been designing and making jewelry since 1986 and her one-of-a-kind pieces have been featured in galleries, jewelry stores and boutiques throughout the West and Southwest.
While moving with her husband and three children to many parts of the country, she realized that she felt a deep “kinship” with the Southwest and their architecture, clothing and jewelry (a connection with her Indian heritage from her great grandfather). So, it was a natural progression into the world of sterling silver and turquoise jewelry design. A self-taught jewelry artist, Sandra incorporates semi-precious stones of all kinds, as well as handmade lampwork beads from some of the finest bead artists from all over the world, into her ever-evolving new designs.
She has followed in her mother’s footsteps in her love of color, texture, design, and all things creative. A bread dough ornament she created as a gift for a friend, led to orders from local stores and before long she was shipping designer bread dough ornaments (thousands and thousands of them) all over the US.
Later, she discovered the art of creating handmade papers, which she in turn used to create large collages, as well as one of a kind “Art” greeting cards. Her decorator cards were carried in some of the finest boutiques in the US, including New York City, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Dallas.
